Chris is Head of Communications for the Renishaw Group and joined the business as a sponsored student, before gaining a Business degree and a Diploma in Marketing. In over 20 years with the company he has held a variety of Sales & Marketing roles, including global branding, management of international exhibitions, marketing communications and sales administration. As Head of Communications his responsibilities include corporate communications, brand management, external affairs, social media, education liaison and language services. He is also a Trustee Director of award winning charity Excellent Development
Renishaw is a world leading engineering and science technologies company, supplying products used for applications as diverse as jet engine and wind turbine manufacture, through to 3D printing, dentistry and brain surgery. It is Gloucestershire’s largest business employer, with over 1,800 staff based at its five sites in the county, plus a further 1,400 people located at various locations in the UK and the 31 countries where it has wholly owned subsidiary operations. This year the company recruited a record 46 apprentices, 54 graduates and gave summer/industrial placements to some 94 students.
Throughout its history Renishaw has made a significant commitment to research and development, with between 14 and 18% of annual sales invested in R&D and engineering. The majority of this R&D and manufacturing of the company’s products is carried out in Gloucestershire.
For the year ending June 2013 Renishaw had sales of £347 million of which 94% was due to exports. The Company’s success has been recognised with numerous international awards, including sixteen Queen’s Awards, and is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE:RSW) where it is a constituent of the FTSE 250.
